Canyon Road – A Contemporary Sweet Romance
Sage Elgin has lived with her wealthy, powerful, beautiful, and selfish Aunt Victoria since she was twelve, when her anthropologist parents—her mother, a Zuni Indian, and her father, Aunt Victoria’s brother—were killed in an airplane crash on their way to a dig-site.
Now, while still in deep mourning three weeks after her Aunt Victoria had died in a horseback riding fall, Victoria’s attorney tells Sage that Victoria had squandered away her fortune, and Sage is left with virtually nothing to live on.
Trying to escape her grief and worry for at least couple hours by attending an art reception, Sage leaves early and drives home on the lonely Silverado Canyon Road. As she nears her driveway, a motorcycle gang roars up on her, encircling her car and forcing her into the ditch.
Right at this terrifying moment, Michael Williamson crests the country hill and the motorcycle gang roars away. Michael maneuvers Sage’s car out of the ditch, and, as she’s still shaking, he drives her up her long driveway.
Sage thanks Michael for saving her, and invites him in for a cup of tea. They chat amiably, each taking veiled glances at the other’s beauty, but after Michael leaves, Sage finds she can’t get his boyish gorgeousness and good-nature out of her mind. She tells herself she’ll never see him again, little knowing how soon their paths would again cross....
No matter how far away from one another two people who are meant to be together try to run, they will eventually run into one another.
Love is a circle.

Canyon Road Canyon Road Love Stories Book 1 eBook Thea Thomas Reviews
I read this book over a weekend, and it was ok. The writing felt a little stilted and the relationship that developed seemed to be unnatural. The character development was good, and I understood how and why the characters did what they did, but when the lead in the book ended up with her guy, I wasn't sure why. Maybe the author left out a little too much explanation, but more scenes with them together so I could understand why at the party at the end they were suddenly running off together.
The author needs to take basic grammar and spelling lessons or get a better editor. The misuse of words was very distracting to a very predictable story. The mistakes happened too frequently to be typos.
I actually found CANYON ROAD to be somewhat disappointing. The characters were all archetypes; none of them came across as real people. I also found everyone finding their perfect true love at first sight to be quite unbelievable. There were no crises or conflicts to overcome; some mild miscommunication was all that stopped the hero and heroine from getting together. I also didn't think they knew each other well enough; the things they shared in common were done separately so the characters couldn't have been aware of them. There were a great many editing mistakes throughout the book which interrupted the flow of the story. (For example, the past tense of "drag" is "dragged," not "drug.") I won't say why because that would be a spoiler, but I can't see how Millie was working in the mailroom or had a social relationship with Michael. There was nothing really wrong with the story (except the editing), so if you are looking for a light, quick romance to read, then you might enjoy this one.
I found this to be a good story, not great. The characters are likeable but the language was a bit stiff and formal. It seemed like it was from another era or I am unfamiliar with the language used by those with money. The conclusion was sealed from the beginning so it was not surprising. Neither was the lawyer conflict. I wasn't disappointed with the story. It was a bit slow paced for me.
An interesting read.
I have read this book before but sooooooo enjoyed it the second time. It had been a few years and I had forgotten so much.
Loved it!
Amusing little piece of fiction. Quite enjoyed it as an afternoon’s entertainment. Will read more from this storytelling author soon.
